Website Backups

I always urge all other fellow web masters to make backups of their websites as often as they can. For forums that update everyday I would actually recommend a back up every single day if not every other day or even every week because losing that much data could be, well it’ll be very bad.

I have suffered horrible losses in the past because I have ignored to take frequent backups of my websites and once I lost over 2 months of data on my forum. After that I have taken backups everyday no matter how many posts were made. And I only backup my blogs right after a post has been made. So you can safely assume that after this post right here, a backup will be made, and so on overwriting the backup made previously.

Webmaster Email

I always give the advice to all webmaster to have a webmaster email. This just means you have an email for your domain. If your domain is Site.com then have something like admin@site.com or webmaster@site.com.

It makes much easier for people to find the webmaster contact email and contact you if there are issues. It is one advice you should take seriously because it can really show your visitors and members you are well established and ready for business.

vBulletin Update: Version 3.6.10

A Few days ago the vbulletin staff has announced their latest and hopefully last update of the 3.6 version. vBulletin 3.6.10 came out saying that it fixes a few bugs from 3.6.9. They have urged that everyone with 3.6.9 upgrade to the latest version.

If you have a vBulletin forum, I can suggest that you upgrade but I will not fully recommend it. Mainly because vBulletin version 3.7.0 is due to come out very soon and unless you want to go through two upgrades in very short periods of time, Just stay low on this one because the 3.6.10 update came just a few weeks after the 3.6.9 version. But at the end the decision to upgrade is up to you so good luck making the right decision!

Wordpress 2.5.1

Earlier today wordpress announced its latest version of its CMS which is wordpress 2.5.1. It was a very quick update since the last one because if I remember correctly, that was less than a month ago.

It is great to see wordpress updating its features and fixing its bugs but frequent updates can be annoying because you have to upgrade the whole thing as it is. Hopefully I will get to upgrading this blog to 2.5.1 this weekend and if not this weekend, the upgrade will be done next weekend.
